Making the most of long weekends and long days

It’s Thursday, and we’re on the cusp of a long Juneteenth weekend. If this summer starts to feel endless, there’s a good reason for that: 2026 has an unusually long span between Memorial Day and Labor Day (106 days!), the longest it can be. Father’s Day—always the third Sunday in June—falls this year on the last possible date: Sunday June 21, which also happens to be the solstice, or the longest day of the year in the Northern hemisphere.
